Skydive the Falls
Thank you so much for this review Joe, we can’t wait to jump with you again! It's been a few days now since Mike Waleszczak and I went skydiving for the first time. I was lucky enough to have Jason Berger, owner of Skydive the Falls, as my "instructor" and guide. I still can't get over how amazing of a day it was. I opted out of the video package, so you get a text description of the experience! We pulled up for our 5pm slot, but due to soggy runway conditions, we had a 2 hour wait and had to take a shuttle from Youngstown to Niagara Falls to take off from the airport. After watching a short safety video, this felt like the longest 2 hours of my life. We met other experienced skydivers, chatted with the owners, and tried to relax. Another group of jumpers landed while we were watching, and when two 18-year old kids ran off the landing spot with red faces and the most excited look on their face, I knew this was going to be a good time.As we took off from Niagara Falls Airport, we got a beautiful view of the falls, the gorge, and Lake Ontario. We ascended to 13,500 feet in what felt like 5 hours, but was actually only a few minutes. As soon as the plane flattened out, the sliding door at the back of the plane was opened....no backing out now!Mike and I were already harnessed to our instructors and waiting our turn. A solo jumper in his mid 20s immediately leaned back and THREW himself out of the door. Mike and his instructor then scooted up to the door, stood up off the bench seat, crouched down at the door, and they were gone. "HOLY SHIT THIS IS HAPPENING" was my only thought.Jason and I moved up to the door with me hanging halfway out and him holding the bar inside the plane until we were ready to go. I looked down over Lake Ontario and could see Toronto. I looked straight down and saw farmland. The next thing I know, I see an airplane wing, the sky, the ground, and then an airplane wing, the sky, and the ground...I was tumbling through the air. I WAS FLYING. After about 5 seconds of flipping sideways, we quickly straightened out and were facing the ground. The force of the wind drag was louder than any noise I've heard, and it was getting louder as we were quickly reaching terminal velocity (it sounded like a stealth fighter jet was 2 feet away). Faster, faster, faster, until suddenly the noise leveled out as we reached our top speed. This is when everything went into slow motion for me. I knew I was falling and the adrenaline was pumping, but the view and feeling of safety (not sure why I felt safe at THIS specific moment, but I did!) was so peaceful. I could see details on the ground below me start to appear- roads, cars, houses, trees, and the landing spot. The free fall ended in .1 seconds when we reached 5,500 feet of altitude, as the parachute was pulled (no, the "jolt" when Jason pulled the parachute didn't hurt or whip my body around like I thought it would). All of a sudden we're floating in DEAD SILENCE over the edge of Lake Ontario. 7:45pm, 0mph wind, 0 clouds in the sky.The parachute ride down took about 5 minutes. My ears did hurt a bit from the pressure change (it was about 10* when we jumped at 13,500 feet and 70* when we landed), but the view of Buffalo, Lake Erie, Grand Island, the Niagara River, Lake Ontario, and Toronto from 5,500 feet up was the most beautiful sight I've laid my eyes on. I asked Jason to do some hard turns on the way down, so we quickly spiraled a few times, but to be honest if I could have slowly floated around for the next hour overlooking WNY, I would have been content! The landing was the easiest part. I was told to kick my feet up and land on my butt, which went flawless because I have no butt to get in the way of landing. When I stood up, I was deaf (my ears hadn't popped yet), but in a state of bliss. We did it. We were on the ground safe. "WHEN CAN I GO AGAIN" has been running through my mind since we landed. This experience with Skydive the Falls was as good as I could imagine. Jason and his crew are very professional and made me feel safe leading up to, and during, the jump. If you've ever thought of trying skydiving, I would 100% recommend it, and I might even join you! Thank you again Jason Berger, and I'll be seeing you again very soon. ... See MoreSee Less

📚Page 68/365 📝 In case you missed the memo we are already in our 3rd chapter of our year long storybook. 👀🤯 💭How is yours being written? Are you actually writing your own story or just sitting back and reading someone else’s book?! Or are you letting someone or some thing tell you what your life should look like? 🤨🤓🧐 #StartWriting ✍🏻 #ItsADecision #ItsYourStoryYour fear and your comfort zone will try to take control and drive your life if you let it! 🤦🏼‍♂️ 🌟 A lot of times I have to make a conscience decision to tell fear to take a back seat so I can take control and drive the life I want to live!!! 😜🤙🏻 #FearIsALiar #TakeBackYourStory #TakeTheWheelHave you decided to stop letting fear dictate your story and your life? How many times have you said to yourself “Damnnnn... It’s great to be living! I feel ALIVE!!!”? 🤔🤨💫💫Here is how I’m taking control and plan to write my story so far! I’m saying YES to life and feeling ALIVE! How about you? #SeasonOfYES 1. Meet and get to know and really invest in everyone I can! You just never know who the next person that you may meet, get to know, and possibly influence! Or they may help influence you! 🤔🙏🏻❤️2. First trip to Skydive Spaceland Houston in Texas! March 11th-15th. Who knows what epic shit could happen there? 🤷🏼‍♂️ #EyesOpen #ImReady. (Thanks Justin and Monica #ThroupleGoals 💁🏼‍♂️🤣😂😉)3. Fly a plane ✈️ (Thanks Gary 😬😜)4. Bike ride from DC to Pittsburgh 335 miles 🚲 sometime in spring (Preston, Alexander, Abigail 😁)5. Jump from a hot air balloon. 🤙🏻 (Cleveland Skydiving Center) July 9-11 6. Jump from a helicopter and biplane. 🚁 #FallsFest3.0 (Skydive the Falls) July 17-187. Bike ride GAP trail. Cumberland, Maryland to Pittsburgh (around September - 150 miles) 🚴 8. Complete 1,000 push ups in a day! 😰😫 (Let’s say in a 12 hour time frame) (Thanks Ken! 🤦🏼‍♂️🙄 tagging Laura) 9. Convince someone (at the very least one) to take back control of their life and for them to tell fear to take a back seat. #NoMoreComfortZone10. Complete a triathlon. (Not an Olympic tri 🙄🤦🏼‍♂️ just a lil guy one) Possibly Deep Creek or Morraine11. Ride 3,000 miles on bike for the year 🚲 (only 2,890 to go 😬😜)✅ Earn my A license for skydiving! 🪂🤙🏻😜What’s on your list? #LetsShare 🤔🤗 #SharingIsCaring#DontLiveVicariously#TakeControl #TakeThePen #TakeAction#FeelAlive#PVO #SeasonOfYES#EyesOpen#ImReady ... Exciting news happening with our friends over at Niagara Jet Adventures! We created the first and #niagarasbestjetboat tours that operate in all 4 seasons. It's possible because of our boats’ climate-controlled comfort where you stay warm and dry. That is, as long as there is no ice in the Niagara River, because that could interfere with our engines. We are planning on opening Niagara’s # 1 scenic, whitewater tour and thrill experience for the 2021 season on April 15th. Book today! The ride is safe and with limited seating, we follow ALL New York State and CDC health and safety guidelines.
